Pure sandalwood
Mazaka· Review provided by spacenk.com · March 19, 2024
I love baies but sometimes I need something else and this has quickly become my next favourite alongside tuberuse. This is nice if you don’t feel like a floral fragrance which a lot of the candles are. It is soft and calming. The fragrance is creamy and musky. If you like sandalwood you will appreciate the soft pure form of this and how it doesn’t need any other notes/combinations as found in many other candles.
Cosy scent

This is another one of my go to Diptyque home scents. Just like the Amber candle, I find this brings an instant cosy, warm feeling to the house when it’s burning. It isn’t as strong as a couple of my other Diptyque candles but nonetheless it is definitely something I purchase repeatedly. It is one of the only candles I’ve had that genuinely smells like sandalwood which is simply divine.

I’m a huge fan of sandalwood, but I know I’m in the minority when saying just doesn’t do it for me. I hoped it would have the same depth of fragrance notes of Le Labo’s Santal 26 (which smells like Santal 33), but it’s a much stronger sandalwood scent. It’s a great candle! It smells like warm sandalwood incense and it lasts forever once the wax melts down. But it just can’t take the place of Santal 26 and its notes of amber resin, cocoa, green wood and dried sandalwood, vanilla, cedar...the sum is greater than its parts and just wholly unique. The candles are similarly priced, with Diptyque Santal at ~$70USD per 6.5oz vs Le Labo Santal 26 $85 per 8.5oz. While I’ve seen Diptyque’s Santal mentioned as a “dupe” for the hard-to-find Santal 26 (or Santal 33 scent), as a Le Labo hoarder I would like to add my two cents and say: they are nothing alike!! Both are great, but they’re quite different; I think it just comes down to personal preference. If you want a really sandalwood-forward candle, go for the Diptyque. Otherwise, grab Santal 26 when you can find it!
Classic for a reason

One of the best, cleanest and most timeless sandalwood scented candles on the market. The note is perfectly showcased and this is one of the most classic, unsung heroes from the diptyque collection. It is not as flashy as other sandalwood scented products out there on the market but it lends itself perfectly to bringing the right amount of warmth and luxury to your interior.
