Green lights too bright compared to others

December 8, 2024I'm truly sorry to have to write this review. The tree itself is lovely - looks very realistic, easy to put together, very solid - essentially perfect. The lights are evenly spaced and the colored lights are very nice colors. I'm not wild about the yellowish "white" lights but the outlet store said they are supposed to mimic candlelight color and they do that. My problem is the green lights - they are vastly brighter than the other colors. Turning up and down the brightness affects all the lights the same, so that the green ones are always the brightest by far. It's the first thing everyone notices - not a subtle difference at all. I reached out to customer support, and after chatting online with 3 different people, I got different stories. The first said it's a design flaw in that particular tree and all they can do is replace it with a different variety. Then it switched to a second person then a third, and the upshot then was that my tree was defective, and they'd ship a new one that they assured me would be perfect - at no extra cost to us. All good (it arrived quickly), EXCEPT that we just went to the hassle of boxing up the old tree and setting up the new one and lo and behold it has exactly the same problem! I'm not sure what to do at this point. I imagine they'd be willing to send yet another tree, but I have no reason to believe them any more when they say it will be perfect. Super frustrating. (the photo below doesn't show this very well unfortunately)

February 12, 2024I first bought an 8 foot noble fir which was way too large for my home. After pleasant exchanges with staff members, it was returned quickly and efficiently in exchange for a 71/2 foot narrow noble fir with candlelight clear lights during sales of January 2023. This particular tree proved to be a lemon! Whoever wired the lighting on the tree needed a lunch break. The wiring bound branches together such that I could not fluff them. When branches started breaking, I gave up and repacked the tree. Without being able to do any fluffing, the poor tree looked like wheels on a spindle. I offered this tree to 2 family members who both declined it after seeing it and realizing the lighting needed to be removed to hopefully help it look better. In December 2023 after repacking the tree, I contacted balsam hill feeling so disappointed that I had received such a lemon of a tree which was not inexpensive. I was promptly notified that a representative would reach out me within 2 days. After a week passed, nothing-no response. I then tried contacting them through email and was reassured that the issue of no response would be sent to the correct department and I should hear back in 48 hours. Again nothing This time I called and after explaining the situation, was again told I would hear back in two days. And again, silence.... I was left feeling not only very disappointed with a tree i had saved for and had high expectations of, but also for a company that seemed to pride itself on its products and customer service, support and satisfaction. I rate Balsam Hill company 1. I've never been shutout by a company before. Meanwhile, I had shopped around my local area for a replacement tree but found nothing satisfactory. I ended up purchasing a 71/2 foot unlit Vermont white spruce from Balsam Hill which is great. It's very attractive and I can use my own lights. Third time was the charm! I rate this tree 5! The lemon tree went to Goodwill.
I would not buy this product again.

December 18, 2024We thought long and hard prior to purchasing a full, 7.5 foot tall, Vermont Spruce Tree from Balsam Hill the end of November. This should have measured 5.5 feet in diameter. Ours, no matter how much "fluffing" is done, measures 4.5 feet, or 54" (the slim version = less $$). I have spoken with several representatives either on line or in person and I received responses like this: Please return the tree and we will send you a replacement, but it will be just like the one you are returning ,and because it is now December, we can't be sure when you would receive it. Really? Your tree needs more fluffing! Seriously - I can't stretch it! So I am not happy with the representatives for not believing me and for not being able to refund me the difference between a full and a slim tree(we didn't want the hassle of putting it back into a box etc.). I did send pictures showing measurements. So, we used the tree because it was December and we needed to celebrate and we enjoyed it. While the quality of the tree is excellent, the customer service is extremely unappealing (thus the 3 star rating). and we "settled" for the slimmer tree because we needed to celebrate Christmastime, even though we paid for a full sized tree.
So sorry I bought this tree!

December 4, 2024I purchased the Vermont White Spruce right after Christmas last year during the Balsam Hill sale. I had a pre lit tree from another vendor for 15 years when the light finally started to fail...there was a 10 year warranty on the
lights so I really got my money's worth!
I finally put up my new Balsam Hill tree yesterday and I am so disappointed. I have a lot of experience with "fluffing" a tree and this was an exercise in futility.
The branches droop down leaving gaps in the tree. It is impossible to fluff each tier starting at the very bottom and then moving to the next tier due to the shoddy wiring of the lights...the wiring causes the tier above to fall down onto the lower tier while working to fluff the lower tier.
Also, there are hardly any little branches closer to the center pole making it difficult to fill in any "holes" in the tree. This tree looks nothing like your pictures!
The only saving grace is that all of the lights work!
